Project Name: Tafelmusik’s 2026-27 Season – The Road to 50
Project Description:

This application is for “Tafelmusik’s 2026-27 Season – The Road to 50”, taking place from September 25, 2026, to May 17, 2027, in various locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. This is the first phase of a coordinated three-season strategy leading to Tafelmusik's 50th anniversary concert season in 2028/29. The initiative is designed to convert Tafelmusik's existing national and international artistic visibility into sustained audience relationships and increased visitation to Toronto and North York performances. Programming includes: (1) Major Toronto and North York performances: a full season of concerts at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre, Koerner Hall, and George Weston Recital Hall, including key programs such as Bach's St John Passion, Telemania!, Messiah, and Purcell's King Arthur, with new Thursday performances added to six programs; (2) Ontario community touring: intimate and educational concerts in Ottawa, St. Catharines, Kleinberg, and Hamilton in partnership with organizations including the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the McMichael Art Gallery, and Hammer Baroque; and (3) Eastern Canada and international touring: a tour of the multimedia production Staircases to Fredericton, Halifax, Antigonish, and Amherst in November 2026, followed by presentations at the Boston Early Music Festival in June 2027 in collaboration with Juilliard415 and Rachel Podger.
