countless world-class performances, becoming a true hub for arts and culture in Northwestern Ontario. Celebrated as one of the finest concert halls in North America it is renowned for world-class acoustics and versatile, state-of-the-art sound and stage technology. In 2023, the TBCA became a completely standalone organization, assuming full operating responsibilities from the City of Thunder Bay for the TBCA that remains an asset of the City of Thunder Bay under lease. Under the terms of the lease, the TBCA is fully responsible for the ongoing capital maintenance of the Auditorium building. The TBCA presents more than 100 live performances each year, while also hosting community events such as graduations, conferences, weddings, and exhibitions. The Auditorium is also home to the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, offering a full season of symphonic masterworks and pop concerts that draw audiences from across the region. On September 21, 2002, Thunder Bay proudly welcomed Paul Shaffer home for a celebration of his remarkable career in show business. Known worldwide as the longtime bandleader on The Late Show with David Letterman, the street the TBCA resides on was renamed Paul Shaffer Drive after the event. Over the past two years, the TBCA has celebrated its 40th anniversary with special events, heritage displays, community showcases, and expanded programming that honors its legacy and looks to the future.

Project Name: Blues In The Ballpark
Project Description:

This application is for Blues in the Ballpark 2026, a new two-day outdoor summer festival taking place August 21 and 22, 2026 at Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Building on the legacy of the Thunder Bay Bluesfest, which ran for nearly twenty years and grew from a volunteer-led event to a major festival headlining Bryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, and Paul Rodgers, Blues in the Ballpark is designed to reintroduce a large-scale blues festival to the community. Presented in partnership with the City of Thunder Bay, and the local baseball team the Thunder Bay Border Cats, the festival aims to attract 3,000 patrons over two days, generating economic and cultural impact for the city and setting the stage for future growth. Programming includes: (1) Friday, August 21 lineup: performances by Jeff Rogers, Mike Wheeler Band, Solomon Hicks, Erja Lyytinen, and Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues, offering a mix of Canadian, U.S., and international artists to appeal to diverse blues audiences; and (2) Saturday, August 22 lineup: performances by Marcus Trummer, Spencer Mackenzie, Nikki Hill, David Gogo, Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar, and The Texas Headhunters, combining a variety of blues styles to maintain audience engagement and broaden appeal.
