Organization Name: Northumberland Hispanic Cultural Club
Organization Description:

The Northumberland Hispanic Cultural Club Inc (NHCC) is an incorporated not-for-profit organization. It was established by the Latin Hispanic community in the County to provide a venue for its community members to enjoy and participate in Latin Hispanic culture. The club aims to promote Latin Hispanic culture and Heritage by holding events and, performances that showcase Latin American art, music, food and literature.

The club also aims to help and support new Canadians of Latin and Hispanic origin to adapt to their new home. Acknowledging that many people from Northumberland County escape winter by going to Latin America, the club aims to enrich this experience by connecting Northumberland residents to the growing Hispanic community in the region.

Project Name: Northumberland Hispanic Heritage Month Festival 2025
Project Description:

This application is for the “Northumberland Hispanic Heritage Month Festival 2025”, taking place October 4 to 25, 2025 at various locations around the county. The Festival is a multi-event cultural celebration organized to honour the contributions, history, and vibrancy of Hispanic communities through a series of public events ranging from film and art to music, food, and education. Programming includes:

(1) Northumberland Hispanic Film Festival (September 30 – October 2 at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall, Cobourg): A curated selection of six Hispanic films (documentary, drama, shorts) with Canadian premieres and filmmaker discussions;

(2) Art Exhibition: "Hispanic Colours - Our Bright Heritage" (October 4 – December 14, at the Colborne Art Gallery); A multi-artist visual arts exhibit featuring works from Hispanic-Canadian painters, photographers, textile artists, and sculptors

(3) Latin Dinner Gala (October 11 at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre): A formal evening of Latin cuisine, dance, and music attended by dignitaries, sponsors, and community leaders. Live entertainment by Mariachi Mexico Amigo (Canada’s premier Mariachi band), and Carla Gonzalez & Latin Train (Latin fusion ensemble);

(4) Hispania: Latin Music Showcase (October 26 at the Trinity United Church, Cobourg): A concert highlighting Latin jazz, classical guitar, and folk fusion. Performers include the Northumberland Orchestra, Alejandro Vega (Classical guitarist from Chile), and Trio Sol Latino (Latin jazz group from Toronto); and

(5) “Latin-Licious: A Taste of Latin America” (October–December at various restaurants across Northumberland County): A culinary initiative where local eateries offer Latin-inspired menus and dishes.
