Project Name: Doors Open Ontario 2018
Project Description:

This application is for “Doors Open Ontario 2018”, taking place across the province from April 1, to October 31, 2018.

The interpretive theme for 2018, “Towards a Fair and Just Society”, will provide communities across the province an opportunity to explore our progress in the 100 years since women’s suffrage and the equality movement in Ontario’s pluralistic society. Organizers have programmed events in over 150 communities in approximately 70 municipalities across the province. The Trust has planned 45-50 special events including:

(1) the Doors Open Ontario Community Roadshow, which will travel to about 15 events, will include an interactive programming component, engaging visitors, and focussing on promoting inclusion and diversity in Ontario’s heritage and culture. The Roadshow will build on the success of the Ontario 150 traveling tour “MyOntario”;

(2) themed provincewide Doors Open Ontario events, organized by topic, such as “Black Heritage” or “Local Foods”, will take place on the same day in multiple communities;

(3) Pop-up DOO events, taking place throughout the year to build and sustain program interest. Five sites will be chosen to host these pop-up events based on five regions across the province.
