The Classic Theatre Festival is Ottawa Valley’s only professional theatre company, producing the classic hits of Broadway and the London Stage in heritage Perth, Ontario. Founded in 2010, the Festival runs throughout the summer and is one of the largest cultural tourist attractions in the area, spanning of period of 8 weeks in total.

This funding is for the marketing of “The Classic Theatre Festival 10th Anniversary Celebration” expanded and enhanced programming taking place June 4 to September 8, 2019 at the historic St. James Anglican Church auditorium in Perth. Anniversary programming includes:

(1) Three popular Broadway hits running eight times weekly from June 21 to Sept. 9, 2019: (i) Van Druten’s “The Voice of the Turtle”; (ii) Shaw’s “Pygmalion”; and (iii) Levin’s “Deathtrap”. Each performance will be preceded with a half-hour talk that celebrates the Festival’s 10th anniversary;

(2) A brand new Tuesday Lunchtime Theatre presentation of Shaw’s “Androcles and the Lion”. The Theatre’s partnership with Michael’s Table Restaurant will return after a successful inaugural run in 2018; and

(3) A newly commissioned walking heritage play exploring life in Perth during the 1930's (currently in development).
