Incorporated in January 2023, Irish Music Niagara (IMN) is a newly established non-profit corporation with the key objective of sharing happiness through Irish music and creativity. IMN facilitates the development of a local music scene through weekly “Folk ‘N’ Irish” traditional music session and other events throughout the year, culminating in an annual summer event: Niagara Irish Festival. The Festival is a family friendly event that is open to all people with an interest in Irish and Celtic folklore, tradition, music and heritage.

Projet Niagara Irish Festival 2024
Description du projet

This application is for the “Niagara Irish Festival 2024”, a two-day celebration of Irish music, culture, history and dancing taking place in Firemen's Park Niagara Falls August 22 to 24, 2024. This will be the second year for the Festival after a very successful inaugural event in 2023. 2024 programming will include: .

(1) August 22: Illumination of Niagara Falls with the colours of the Irish Flag. Live Irish dancing and singing of Irish and Canadian national anthems. The programming will be broadcast on TV (Cogeco) and live streamed on social media;

(2) August 23: (i) A cross cultural ceremony with partners from the local Indigenous community featuring Irish / Indigenous musical fusion (IMN is coordinating with the Niagara Regional Native Center in Niagara on the Lake who have a number of different musical groups that frequent their weekly Monday night Drum circles and other events); (ii) multiple stages of local bands and dance schools, artists and artisan vendors, storytelling, kids activities and workshops; and (iii) Candlelight Theme concert in the outdoor amphitheatre at Firemen’s Park followed by a traditional Irish Ceillidh dancing (with Irish instructors) in Firemen’s Hall (Headlined by Steel City Rovers and featuring Susan O’Malley and The Blackthorns); and

(3) August 24: Niagara Helicopters drops off the Leprechaun who is welcomed by the mayor & Niagara Police Pipe Band with a parade of Irish County Flags.
