Incorporated in 2011, Caribbean Nations Organization Canada’s (CNOC) mandate is to run events focused on Caribbean and Canadian-Caribbean culture. The organization's mission is to provide cross-cultural understanding, acceptance and interaction between peoples of diverse nationalities through the celebration of art, music, food, and tradition. Its signature event is the annual Carivibe Festival which takes place every June on Petrie Island in Ottawa.

Projet Carivibe Caribbean Music and Food Fair
Description du projet

This application is for “Carivibe Festival and Caribbean Music and Food Fair” taking place in three locations in Ottawa July 19 to 21, 2024. The annual Carivibe Festival is the largest celebration of Caribbean culture in the National Capital Region. In partnership with the local Caribbean community, businesses, tourism partners, and sponsors, the festival combines arts and cultural activities, live multidisciplinary performances, and a range of Caribbean cuisine to create a cultural celebration for all ages. The 2024 Festival will include:

(1) J’Ouvert at Mexicali Rosas (July 19): with music performances by local artists and at least one international performer;

(2) ‘Reach the Beach' at Petrie Island Beach (July 20): with multidisciplinary performances including live music and DJ performances, food and artisan vendors and beach activities for adults and kids;

(3) ‘Bam Bam Block Party’ (July 20): featuring visual artists and cultural performers in Ottawa’s Byward Market): and

(4) ‘Caribbean Music and Food Fair’ in the Horticulture Building at TD Place (July 21): a third festival location featuring; (i) tropical drinks and the very best in Caribbean cuisine from Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and renowned international chef Peter Edey from Barbados and more; (ii) visual artists, artisan vendors, carnival costumes, steel bands and Afro-Caribbean drummers; and (iii) live performances from popular Caribbean artists including Destra, Nepean Panharmonic, Massive Vibes, Joshua Lucas, Chris Dubbs.
