The Srishti Foundation in Canada, is a registered not-for-profit organization, founded in 2012. Srishti in Sanskrit means “creation”. Srishti is about the creation of a more vibrant, more giving society and inculcating a sense of Seva (selfless service) in our next generation. Srishti is founded on the three pillars of: Seva (inspiring selfless service in the community; Celebration (celebrating ancient Indian festivals with its traditional symbols, fun and giving; and Culture (promoting self-development & leadership of the next generation through the study of ancient Indian heritage, its performing arts & traditions). The organization programs two events annually: Holi: Festival of Colours; and Diwali: Festival of Lights.

Projet Festival of Colours
Description du projet

This application is for “Holi: Festival of Colours 2024”, taking place April 27, 2024 at Victoria Park, in London. Holi is a popular Hindu Festival celebrated in the Indian subcontinent, but has also spread to other regions of Asia and parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora. Holi also celebrates the arrival of Spring in India, the end of winter, and the blossoming of love. It is a cultural celebration that gives Hindus and non-Hindus alike an opportunity to have fun banter with other people by throwing coloured water and powder at each other. Programming will include:

(1) a series of performances by diverse ensemble groups including emerging local Canadian Gujarati and Punjabi band, singers/artists, and DJs;

(2) South Asian food trucks;

(3) Bollywood dance performances;

(4) story-telling;

(5) free yoga class;

(6) workshops;

(7) visual arts; and

(8) children’s programming
