The Festival began in 1989, when top jazz artists were booked to perform at the Kew Beach Bandshell. Now celebrating its 26th anniversary, the festival has blossomed into a 13-day event that attracts millions of fans and makes a major contribution to promoting Canadian jazz excellence in Toronto and on the world stage.

This application is for the “2024 Beaches Jazz Festival and Theatre Series”, taking place February 2 to December 14, 2024 in Toronto and in theatres across the province. Core Festival programming will take place in Toronto July 4 to 31, and will include: Sounds of Leslieville & Riverside July 4 to 7; Salsa on the Beach, July 12 to 14; the TD Woodbine Park Series, July 19 to 21; the TD Community Workshops, July 2024 (dates tbc), East York Street Fest, July 25 to 27; and the OLG Woodbine Park Series July 26 to 28.

The Beaches Jazz Theatre Series is a 11-city/ 28-show ticketed theatre series featuring tribute performances that showcase some of music’s royalty, such as ABBA, Carol King, Frankie Valli, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Motown Ensembles (Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles). The series will run from February to December and will take place at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre, Centennial Hall in London, the Meridian Theatre in Ottawa, Meaford Hall, the Grand Theatre in Kingston, the Academy Theatre in Lindsay, the Burlington Performing Arts, the Sanderson Centre in Brantford, the Regent Theatre in Picton, and the River Run Centre in Guelph.
