Projet 50th Anniversary of Theatre Aquarius
Description du projet

This application is for “Theatre Aquarius’ 50th Anniversary Season”, taking place March 26 to June 16, 2024. The 50th Anniversary Season will feature two additional special events:

(1) the world premiere production of Tom Wilson’s “Beautiful Scars” based on his bestselling novel “Beautiful Scars: Steeltown Secrets, Mohawk Skywalkers and the Road Home”. The production runs April 24 - May 11, 2024, and features an almost all Indigenous cast and creative team; and

(2) the Brave New Works Festival, which will be an extended edition of the annual Festival that gathers equity deserving artists across a spectrum of performance art disciplines and backgrounds, in conversation, performances, networking, creation and ideas.

These two special features are in addition to the Theatre’s standard five mainstage productions: Norman Foster’s “Jonas and Barry in the Home”, Jake Epstein’s “Boy Falls from the Sky”, Willy Russell’s “Shirley Valentine”, “Pollyanna the Musical”, a Crow’s Theatre production of Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya”. Theatre Aquarius will also host the Hamilton Fringe Festival and the “Decolonize Your Ears Festival” (a partnership with Red Beti Theatre).
