Carassauga Festival Inc. was founded in 1985 to organize a city-wide multicultural festival to promote understanding, respect and cooperation among all Canadians of different heritage in the City of Mississauga. The Festival is made of different pavilions representing countries or regions of the world. Pavilions are operated by Mississauga-based non-profit organizations and depict the culture of their country/region of origin through food, music, art, dance, fashion shows, historical displays, games and vendors.

The Carassauga Festival's “Opening Ceremonies” will be a significant enhancement to the Festival in 2019. The Ceremonies take place at the Paramount Fine Foods Centrein Mississauga May 24 to 26, 2019.

The proposal is for an Olympic style” kick-off to the festival on May 24 that will include a parade of nations, a choreographed international flag dance performed by representatives of 30 nations in traditional folklore costumes, a selection of preview performances by top countries, and a performance by an international star.
