Founded and incorporated in 2005, the Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is a cultural, not-for-profit organization that celebrates the art of cinema by showcasing Canadian and international film and filmmakers. Delivering exceptional experiences through film, WIFF strengthens and enriches community while promoting the creative economy. WIFF curates annual programs, develops year-round community initiatives and partnerships, and presents a signature film festival every fall.

Projet WIFF ‘Eventized’ Film Program
Description du projet

This application is for the “WIFF ‘Eventized’ Film Program”, taking place from October 29 to November 8, 2026, in Windsor. This year’s event-based film program with multi-faceted experiences, including film screenings, high-profile public programs, and catered social receptions, will feature three not yet released films, including one world premiere. Programming includes: (1) The first ever international World Premiere to be screened in Windsor, Draw Me a Bridge, the 2026 documentary about the making of the Gordie Howe Bridge. There will also be a sponsored exclusive reception for the film’s premiere; (2) Two other headline films will be screened in this new mode of programming – paired with exclusive receptions. Matt Johnson’s Tony starring Antonio Banderas and Dominic Sessa, a biopic chronicling Anthony Bourdain’s early year, and Run Terry Run, a feature-length documentary which chronicles Terry Fox's 1980 Marathon of Hope; and (3) The WIFF Prize in Canadian Film: The WIFF Prize in Canadian Film is a juried competition that celebrates and supports Canadian filmmakers and films; the winner of the juried competition receives $25,000 CAD. This program kicks off with a party in Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival.
