Projet 30th Anniversary of the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival
Description du projet

This application is for the "30th Anniversary of the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival” (BWVTUF), taking place September 18 to 20, 2026. The 2026 edition expands the Festival footprint by approximately two city blocks, increasing visitor capacity, adding new entry points, and accommodating approximately 25% more vendors. Programming will be delivered across five stages, including three main stages and two community and busker stages, featuring more than 850 performers from Toronto, across Canada, the United States, and Ukraine. Programming includes: (1) Main stage performances: headline concerts featuring traditional and contemporary Ukrainian music, dance ensembles, choirs, and youth performances, including the Ukrainian Cultural Forces (Ukrainian Army Musical Ensemble), a premier choral and instrumental ensemble from Philadelphia, and a leading Ukrainian dance company. A new large-scale amphitheatre-style stage near Ellis Park will offer improved sightlines and audience flow; (2) Festival Village: an expanded central gathering space with programmed food, beverage, and community activations, alongside a Local Artisan Brewers Pavilion showcasing Ontario-based brewers and producers; (3) Cultural pavilions and interactive zones: an expanded Ukraine Today Pavilion and Speaker's Corner featuring artist talks, public readings, and facilitated discussions. A new Seniors Pavilion serving as an intergenerational storytelling and community dialogue space; a Family Midway with rides, games, and interactive cultural activities; and an artisan vendor marketplace; (4) 30th anniversary signature programming: a landmark semi-permanent sculptural monument at the Ellis Park entry point intended as a multi-year tourism anchor; TIFF-linked film programming and cultural activation in partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival; and a Eurovision-related contemporary music programming element; and (5) Supporting activations: an annual Saturday parade beginning near High Park, busker performances, livestreaming extending the festival's reach beyond the physical site, and an academically supported performance measurement framework developed in collaboration with Professor Rafael Gomez at the University of Toronto.
