Incorporated in 2025, Hearts Open for Everyone (HOPE) is a community-led nonprofit organization based in Elmira dedicated to building a vibrant, multicultural rural community through inclusivity, education, and shared cultural experiences. The organization hosts inclusive events, community workshops, and cultural celebrations, and works to preserve local history including the legacy of the Queen's Bush Black pioneers.

Projet 4th Annual Multicultural Festival of Elmira
Description du projet

This application is for the "4th Annual Multicultural Festival of Elmira (MFE)", a free one-day cultural festival taking place on September 19, 2026, at Gibson Park in Elmira. The 2026 edition represents a strategic expansion of the festival from a local community gathering into a regional destination event, featuring a professionally curated artistic roster, increased production values, and new permanent cultural landmarks. Programming includes: (1) Professional main stage performances: eight headline acts including Terre Chartrand (Indigenous opening), Shachu (Japanese Taiko), Bahamas Junkanoo Legends, Rhythm of Punjab, Polki, Beautiful Wahinis, Tica Official, and a professional East Asian ensemble; (2) Cultures United Pavilion: a multisensory cultural education hub featuring ten Cultural Ambassadors from diverse backgrounds facilitating face-to-face dialogue through Living Libraries, alongside interactive workshops including Indigenous beaded bracelet making, Arabic calligraphy, global musical instrument demonstrations, and a Global Games Corner featuring traditional games such as Mancala and Lotería; and (3) Vendor marketplace: a Global Flavours food area and artisan market featuring over 20 vendors representing cuisines and crafts from the Philippines, Indo-Caribbean, China, India, Turkey, Peru, Ghana, Egypt, and Nigeria, alongside a permanent community mural created by a local artist for public display in Woolwich Township.
