Incorporated in 2010, The PanAfriKan Coalition of Canada (PACC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and advancing the arts, culture, and heritage of African and Caribbean communities across Canada. Founded to create platforms that amplify Black artistic expression and foster cultural exchange, the organization presents festivals, performances, and community initiatives that bring together artists, entrepreneurs, and audiences from diverse backgrounds. Among its key initiatives is the Ottawa African Festival, an annual cultural celebration featuring music, dance, food, and visual arts that highlights the richness and diversity of African and Caribbean traditions.

Projet 17th Edition of the Ottawa African Festival
Description du projet

This application is for the “17th Edition of the Ottawa African Festival”, a three-day outdoor cultural celebration taking place August 28 to 30, 2026, at Britannia Beach Pier Park in Ottawa. Now entering its seventeenth year, the festival has grown into a recognized multicultural summer attraction in the region, celebrating African and diasporic arts, music, cuisine, and cultural exchange. Programming includes: (1) Opening night concert: a Friday evening headline concert featuring an internationally or nationally recognized African or Afro-diasporic recording artist supported by emerging Ontario-based performers; (2) Main stage programming: a full day of performances on Saturday featuring international touring artists, nationally recognized performers, and Ontario-based musicians, dancers, and cultural groups presenting contemporary and traditional African and diaspora arts; (3) African fashion showcase: a curated presentation of African fashion designers and cultural demonstrations celebrating textiles, style, and cultural heritage alongside interactive workshops and exhibits exploring African artistic traditions; and (4) Culinary pavilion and cultural marketplace: an expanded vendor village featuring African chefs, food vendors, and artisans offering traditional cuisine, crafts, jewelry, and cultural merchandise representing diverse regions of Africa and the diaspora.
