Incorporated in 1992, 4th Line Theatre is a community-based, charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and promote Canadian cultural heritage through the development and presentation of regionally based, environmentally staged, historical dramas. Founded in 1992 by Creative Director Robert Winslow, this outdoor theatre performs at the Winslow Farm in Millbrook. 4th Line Theatre Company primarily presents Canadian plays and has developed and presented 42 original plays based on regional history and culture. In 2014, Winslow’s long time collaborator Kim Blackwell took on the role of Managing Artistic Director as Winslow transitioned into the position of Creative Director. 4th Line celebrated their 30th Anniversary in 2022, which included OCAF-supported special programming. Beyond the stage, 4th Line nurtures new Canadian voices through initiatives like the Semi-Annual New Play Seeding Competition, supporting playwrights whose work deepens our cultural narratives.

Projet 2026 Summer Season

This application is for “4th Line Theatre’s 2026 Season”, taking place from April 1 to December 15, 2026, at The Winslow Farm in Millbrook, Ontario. Marking the company’s 34th year of operation and its fifth consecutive two-production summer season, the project represents the culmination of 4th Line Theatre’s post-pandemic rebuilding period and a transition into a new phase of growth, audience expansion, and provincial destination positioning. Presented in a rural heritage setting, the season is designed to increase visitor attendance, overnight stays, and regional economic impact while celebrating Canadian storytelling and rural history. Programming includes:(1) Spring tourism and community activation (April to June): artist talks, donor and sponsor appreciation events, the launch of a weekly Senior Socials series focused on creative writing and play reading, and expanded partnerships with regional agricultural producers and craft purveyors; (2) Summer mainstage production: Schoolhouse (June 30 to July 18) is an eighteen-performance remount of Leanna Brodie’s beloved Canadian classic; (3) Summer mainstage production: Wild Irish Geese (August 4 to 29) is a twenty-one- performance return engagement of the sold-out 2025 world premiere exploring Irish migration to Canada and early settler life; and (4) Additional summer programming: Festival Fridays at the Farm featuring local farmers, food producers, craft artisans, and live demonstrations, continued artist talks, and ten Senior Socials culminating in public play readings.
