Projet It’s A Good Life If You Don’t Weaken
Description du projet

This application is for “It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken” taking place at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton from April 22 to May 16, 2026, followed by a co-production with Thousand Islands Playhouse at Kingston’s Grand Theatre in October 2026. This musical, written by Brian Hill and Ahmed Moneka, reimagines the music of The Tragically Hip within an original narrative set in Toronto’s Kensington Market. The project has undergone an extensive multi-year development process, including workshops at Theatre Aquarius, Mirvish Productions, and Toronto Metropolitan University, with the support and endorsement of The Tragically Hip band. Backed by the National Creation Fund, the production benefits from additional rehearsal time and resources to refine its creative scope. With Mirvish Productions holding licensing rights and planning a future Toronto commercial run, the project is positioned for a national tour and potential international presentations, representing a landmark addition to Canada’s cultural landscape. The programming for “It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken” includes:

(1) World premiere in Hamilton at Theatre Aquarius from April 22 to May 16, 2026 with thirty shows in their 702 capacity theatre.

(2) It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken School Matinees with elementary, secondary and home schools with a post-show chat with members of the cast and creative team

(3) Final run at The Grand Theatre in Kingston from October 22 to November 1, 2026
