Projet A Midsummer Night's Dream - World Premiere and Ontario Performances 2026
Description du projet

This application is for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, taking place January 8 through October 16, 2026, in eight Ontario communities. The performances will be accompanied by extensive free education and community engagement programming. The production is a major new classical ballet in their repertoire: a Canadian-inspired adaptation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. The adaptation is set to Mendelssohn’s 1827 concert overture and 1843 instrumental score which includes the famous “Wedding March.” Bengt Jörgen will bring this story to life in his own original ballet version as a tribute to Canada’s north. Programming includes:

(1) Performances across eight communities: Oakville, Guelph, Windsor, Markham, Cornwall, Huntsville, Thunder Bay and Scarborough;

(2) Local Participant Program: A Midsummer Night’s Dream will include roles for young dancers, ages 9 to 17, through the company’s free Local Participant Program (LPP); and

(3) Workshops: conducted in collaboration with local dance schools & educators
