Projet Steaming Ahead: Celebrating Heritage & Sustainability / the RMS Segwun’s 100th
Description du projet

This application is for “Steaming Ahead: Celebrating Heritage & Sustainability – RMS Segwun’s 100th & Love Muskoka, Sustain Muskoka” taking place June 28, 2025, to February 22, 2026, in Muskoka.

This year, the programming will combine the historic celebration of the RMS Segwun’s 100th Anniversary Season with the launch of the Love Muskoka, Sustain Muskoka environmental exhibition. Together, they represent a dual initiative that honours Muskoka’s past while advocating for its sustainable future.

Programming includes:

(1) RMS Segwun’s 100th Anniversary Season: (i) Centennial Ceremony with live music, historical re-enactments, and dignitary addresses; (ii) "100 Years of Segwun" exhibit featuring oral histories, artifacts, and archival photos; (iii) overnight voyages aboard the Wenonah II, revisiting heritage destinations; and (iv) themed steamship wharf experience with live theatre, performers, and vintage props;

(2) Love Muskoka, Sustain Muskoka, a multi-zone exhibition exploring Muskoka’s climate challenges and community-based solutions including (i) interactive displays; (ii) conservation storytelling; (iii) and Indigenous and settler environmental perspectives; and

(3) Aquaculture: Farming the Waters: a pre-Love Muskoka, Sustain Muskoka initiative travelling exhibition offering tactile models, videos of producers, and hands-on activities focused on themes of sustainability and focusing on innovative freshwater food systems.
