Founded in 2007, the award-winning Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture is one of Canada’s biggest celebrations of hip hop culture and beyond – a multi-disciplinary, world-class festival with a positive social and economic impact.
Manifesto is a non-profit, youth-powered platform designed to put local artists on the map and unite, inspire and empower diverse communities of young people through arts and culture, year-round.
Manifesto programs aim to cultivate multi-disciplinary artistic and professional development for young people and artists across mediums. Building careers, fostering community connections and fuelling civic pride – all while contributing to the vitality of the city.

Manifesto 2023
Description du projet
This application is for the “2023 Manifesto Festival”, a mix of free and paid programming taking place in various venues in Toronto from August 7 to 13, 2023. As the Festival falls within the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, Manifesto will pay tribute to Hip Hop culture throughout the week. Programming will include:
(1) “The Summit” (August 8-9 at the Artscape Daniels Launch Pad): Manifesto Summit is a two-part series. Both days will focus on workshops and panel discussions, led by industry professionals and artists, aimed to provide young people 16-29 with the tools they need to excel and propel their careers. Speakers & Workshop Facilitators: Missy Elliot, Haviah Mighty, Daymond John, Sean Brown, Richard Dunn, Rachel Jackson, Symphonic Distribution, Audiomack, Youtube Music, and Tik Tok Canada (subject to change);
(2) “Emerging Artists Showcase” (August 9-10 at the Drake Underground and The 1871 Berkeley Church): Led and curated by the mentees from Manifesto’s “Off-Campus Skills Development Program”, developing the next generation of Canada-based artists;
(3) “The Live Show” (August 12 at the Budweiser Stage): Featuring some of Canada’s and the world's most talked-about and ground-breaking artists on one stage. Performing Artists will include Davido, Asake, Stefflon Don, Little Simz, Northside Benjii, Skii Fall, Ebhoni, Liza, Wave Montega (subject to change);
(4) “The Afterparty” (August 12 - venue tbc): Hosted by a group of Manifesto resident DJs with mainstage artists in attendance; and
(5) “The Brunch” (August 13- venue tbc): A networking event for emerging artists and industry professionals and creatives.
