The 2022 Elora Festival
This application is for the “2022 Elora Festival”, taking place over three weekends July 8-24, 2022, in four indoor and outdoor venues (two barns and two churches) in Elora and Fergus. The summer 2022 Festival will return to an in-person event featuring over 30 live performances but will maintain a small virtual component through the unique digital presentation of some programs. Programming will include: . (1) a series of performances by the ensemble in residence, The Elora Singers, including commissioned work by Peter-Anthony Togni called Voice of the Weaver with text by Mi’kmaq poet Mary Louise Martin; (2) guest performances by Sarah Slean, Confluence Concerts, Canadian Brass, TorQ Percussion Quartet, Festival of the Sound, Autorickshaw, Penderecki String Quartet and Blackwood, with additional artists TBC; (3) digital performances will be recorded in concert and edited by professional video producers and other digital offerings will be available to view, free of charge, including short documentary films highlighting “the making of” of two new world premieres: commissioned work by Peter-Anthony Togni called Voice of the Weaver with text by Mi’kmaq poet Mary Louise Martin and the Elora Singers’ collaboration with the TorQ Percussion Quartet; and (4) outreach activities including free concerts in the village, masterclasses, pre-concert chats, meet and greets, and a new week-long vocal academy for emerging artists.
