GET READY FOR CAROLING SEASON KINGSTON.
JOE’s M.I.L.L at the TETT Centre can help!
OCAF is one of the sponsors for the entire opening season at Kingston’s newest Art and Culture Hub, The Tett Centre, but alongside all of the fabulous events happening, there are also great organizations there year-round that Kingstonians can find all in one place.
One of those is The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library (Joe’s M.I.L.L.) which has over 750 instruments and resources.
These include, but are not limited to, guitars, keyboards, drums, horns, violins, percussion, exotic instruments, amplifiers, sheet music, and much more – and they’re all available to borrow … free of charge!

POWERPLANT IGNITES
This year marks Harbourfront Centre’s 40th anniversary and will see Toronto hosting the Pan American Games in the summer. “The Power Plant Ignites Multi-Disciplinary Practices,” a year-long project with new and enhanced programming taking place from September 1, 2014 to September 1, 2015.
The first of these events, Color Me Badd, is on now through January 4th. Julia Dault’s rule-based painting process involves responding to mass-produced elements-vinyl, patterned silks, pleather, unmixed paint straight from the tube-with unconventional tools, such as squeegees and rubber combs. These tools create quasi-standardized gestures that allow Dault to skirt the line between expressive abstraction and cool, machine-like facture. Erasure, with its ability to allow viewers to “see into” the painting process, is as important as application.

MICHAELANGELO: Quest for Genius
Revealed through a selection of rare drawings, Michelangelo: Quest for Genius tells the story of Renaissance master Michelangelo Buonarroti (b. 1475) and the frustrations of his creative process.
The exhibition also examines the significant influence that Michelangelo had four centuries later on the French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Ten sculptures from the AGO’s collection will be on display.
